Description

The Ibanez RG550 is a guitarist’s dream, offering high-speed performance and bold, ’80s-style aesthetics. Originally released in 1987, the RG550 modernized the electric guitar for a new generation of players. It quickly gained popularity among rock and metal guitarists who sought a fast and easy-to-play instrument. The Ibanez Genesis Collection RG550 is a reimagining of this classic, blending the adventurous spirit of early models with contemporary enhancements. Its D-shaped Super Wizard neck, lightweight basswood body, HSH pickup configuration, and dive-bombing Edge tremolo ensure excellent playability and versatility.

The Super Wizard’s neck is incredibly fast.

Since its debut in 1987, the iconic RG550 has captured the hearts of guitarists with its remarkable design, featuring a one-piece maple Wizard neck. This reissue elevates that legacy with a stunning 5-piece maple/walnut Super Wizard neck, ensuring that you can effortlessly perform lightning-fast runs, arpeggios, and hammer-ons. Topping the neck is a 24-fret maple fingerboard, outfitted with jumbo frets designed for exhilarating note bends. Additionally, the RG550 maintains its classic appeal with a traditional tilt neck joint complemented by a stamped metal plate, contrasting with the sculpted All Access neck joint of contemporary RGs. If you’re seeking the timeless feel of a classic RG, the RG550 is sure to inspire!

The HSH pickup configuration produces a diverse array of tones.

The RG550 truly impresses with its remarkable range of tones, allowing musicians to explore diverse sonic landscapes. Its V7 neck pickup offers a crisp, dynamic sound, ideal for both chording and rhythm playing. Positioned in the middle is the S1 pickup, delivering a classic, high-output single-coil tone that resonates beautifully. The V8 bridge pickup enriches your sound with warmth and clarity, complete with invigorating overtones. Impressively, these pickups create outstanding harmonics without overwhelming brightness, even at high gain settings. While the RG550 is expertly crafted for rock and metal, its exceptional playability and tonal versatility make it a brilliant choice for virtually any musical style.
